Bluetooth 4.1 Press Release

The Bluetooth 4.1 has been announced today by The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) today as they announced the adoption of updates to the Bluetooth Core Specification.

The new updates will improve the consumer usability with increased co-existence support for LTE, bulk data exchange rates, and aid developer innovation by allowing devices to support multiple roles simultaneously.

"We updated the Bluetooth specification to address this projected growth, making changes to give developers more control in assigning a role to their product, limiting interference with other wireless technologies, and allowing Bluetooth Smart products to exchange data faster and maintain connections with less manual intervention. These updates reflect the demand we see in the market.

We will continue to sculpt Bluetooth wireless technology to extend its critical role in enabling the Internet of Things and ensure it is the very best solution for OEMs, developers and, ultimately, consumers." said Suke Jawanda, Bluetooth SIG CMO.

Bluetooth 4.1 improves usability for consumers, empowers innovation for product developers and extends the technology's foundation as an essential link for the Internet of Things.

What does Bluetooth 4.1 improves?

Coexistence - where the LTE and bluetooth can communicate and reduce the possibility of near-band interference.

Better Connections -  this will allow the devices to reconnect automatically when they are in proximity of one another. When you leave the room and upon returning, two recently used devices reconnect without user intervention.

Improved Data Transfer -  can provide bulk data transfer.

Can't wait to use this Bluetooth 4.1.

Gadget Review: Cherry Mobile Cosmos X

So what can we say about this Cherry Mobile Cosmos edition? The Cosmos X.

As my wife given me an early gift this year for Christmas, she gave me a change to change my old phone. The HTC Desire S which I was using for almost 2 year.

Then she gave me this Cosmos X from Cherry Mobile and of course I should review this one.

On the top side you can find the 3.5mm audio jack & the power button. And on the left is the micro USB port. On the right are the volume controls and the single stage camera button.

The bottom is clean with only the microphone to be found, which is usual I think.

The Display,  The 720p HD Super AMOLED display at 4.7-inches, I like it. Its very sharp and responsive in every touch.

It's camera is an 18MP BSI with LED Flash but not that much good with poor light around you specially at night.

It's battery life comes with a 1800mAh which is so far good to me aside from having a free power bank in every purchase.

To finalize, what I like the most of it is it Super Amoled Display and its very responsive screen.

This Cosmos X model is the cheapest among the Cosmos Edition. Below are the prices.

Cherry Mobile Cosmos X - ₱9,999.00 SRP
Cherry Mobile Cosmos X2 - ₱11,699.00 SRP
Cherry Mobile Cosmos S - ₱ 10,999.00 SRP
Cherry Mobile Cosmos Z - ₱ 11,999.00 SRP

Cherry Mobile Cosmos X specs:

4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display
1.2GHz quad-core processor
4GB internal storage
micro SD up to 32GB
18MP BSI camera with LED flash
8MP BSI front-facing
WiFi b/g/n
Dual SIM
Android 4.2 Jellybean
1,800mAh battery

Oh, by the way, forgot to mention that its build almost plastic all over the body. So If you have this one, better to take good care of it all the time.

I'm not into that very expensive Cosmos Edition and surely I'm thankful to have this as an early Christmas gift. Thanks my wifey!

The World of BlackBerry Z10 with BlackBerry OS 10.2 New Update

This year has been a big one in the smartphone market, with new releases from the world’s biggest handset manufacturers. Samsung released the Galaxy S4 earlier this year, while Apple debuted the new iPhone 5S just last week. But perhapsfor BlackBerry Z10, Q10, and Q5 with its new update to BlackBerry OS 10.2, which comes preloaded on the firm’s BlackBerry Z30 can be one of the most highly anticipated devices this year. Prior to its release, there was much speculation about whether or not the new Z10 would be able to keep up with the competition, as Samsung and Apple each hold a major share of the global smartphone market. Let’s take a closer look at the device’s specifications to determine whether BlackBerry Z10 price is worth to pay:

BlackBerry Z10: The Brave New Face of BlackBerry

BlackBerry fans will surely be pleased with the new Z10 device, which boasts a ton of great new features. The device runs on a speedy Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and offers a 1280 x 768 resolution at 356 ppi, which is actually slightly higher than the iPhone’s famed retina display resolution, which comes in at just 326 ppi. The new Z10 also features an 8-megapixel rear camera and 1080p HD video recording, which puts it on par with the top smartphone cameras on the market. One camera feature unique to BlackBerry devices is TimeShift, which allows shutterbugs to create the perfect photo by moving backwards and forwards in time. The Z10 comes with 16 GB of built-in storage as well as a microSD memory card that supports up to 64 GB of additional storage.

Unlike previous BlackBerry devices, the Z10 utilises touchscreen technology and runs on the new BlackBerry 10 OS. Key features to the BB10 OS are the BlackBerry Hub and BlackBerry Flow with Active Frames, which allows users to have up to eight applications running at once to improve multi-tasking and productivity. BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) also has some great new features—including Screen Share and BBM Voice—to enhance both business and personal communication.

How Does It Compete?

The Z10 is certainly a worthy competitor in today’s global smartphone market. Its processor, resolution, and camera are all on-par with competitors, and its touchscreen technology and predictive text have been noted as being a user-friendly device. With increasingly better app support via BlackBerry World, the company just may find itself in a position not only to hold onto its current users, but to attract new ones as well.

But in order to truly keep pace with companies like Apple and Android, BlackBerry will have to continue to make frequent upgrades to its software. After all, Apple’s new iOS 7 launched just last month, bringing with it innovative Touch ID technology and an overall more harmonious user experience. The great news for BlackBerry Q5, Q10 and Z10 users is the launching of its new BlackBerry 10.2 0S is going to be from this week, bringing with it some much needed improvements such as Priority Hub, Instant Previews of BBM, SMS and Email, keyboard, a feature to help speed and accuracy for conversation, etc. Only time will tell if it will be enough to distinguish the handset in an increasingly competitive market.
